We laughed and sang,
smiled and greeted one another.
We celebrated! How long
it has been since
I could say that!
Yeah, we were careful, but
not muffled, not
rushed through it all.
The hour displayed the wonder
still possible to achieve
by just being smart
and not allowing fear
to choke off the magic,
the joy, the life.
For some in its grip, sadly,
easier said than done.
There remains a war
still to be won.
